about

Hello! You can call me Dio. I'm a disillusioned 20-something year old with degrees in biology and chemistry. I work as a lab technician but creative writing has always been my true passion. I created this website to share my stories with you (and possibly other forms of art; maybe even reading logs and topic compilations?) but the only thing I can code reliably are... statistical tests... I've worked in all kinds of research laboratories! Ant ecology, plant molecular biology, childhood leukodystrophy, and soon a lab specializing in developing CAR-T therapies. Each of them taught me something very valuable, whether it be purely informational or lifestyle choices. The first two, especially, made me realize that a lot of emphasis is put on human-based research, or rather, human-centric research.

In an interview, some time ago now, I gave my customary pitch about the research I did in the ant ecology lab and afterward, the interviewer asked me how was this relevant to humans. Why should we care about biodiversity on the invertebrate level? And to be honest, I didn't really have a real answer for her other than that in this great big world we live in, I think we should appreciate every animal (for there is even bias towards the vertebrates, as opposed to the rest of the animal kingdom that doesn't fall under Phylum Chordata) and plant and fungus and entities that refuse to fit in a nice, neat, phylogenetic box just because their usefulness isn't directly beneficial to humans. Is it not enough to exist? Is it not enough to live and go about your simple, single-celled/hive-mind life?

I won't be here often and there is really nothing here (yet). I will try my best to clean this website up and make due on its purpose. I wish I had the eye for detail like many talented coders on here but alas! My taste for decoration has always been plain and my creativity does not extend to html/css. Unfortunately, the general theme you see now will probably be the most embellishment you will get here.
